Ms Emma Hurst
Emma has been the Senior Assistant Principal at GEMS Jumeirah Primary School since 2013, working as part of the senior leadership team to maintain ‘Outstanding’ outcomes for the children of JPS for the ninth consecutive year. Her main areas of responsibility are currently Assessment, Teaching and Learning, Recruitment and Health and Safety, amongst other things. Before that, Emma led on Curriculum, instigating change and line-managing subject leaders through core curriculum changes following the new UK curriculum in 2014.
Prior to joining Jumeirah Primary School, Emma was an ‘Outstanding’ Key Stage Two classroom teacher for five years in the North East and then North West of England, before progressing to Deputy Head and then Head of School in a large primary school in South Yorkshire, UK, in 2007. As Deputy Head, Emma worked with the Headteacher to move the school from ‘Satisfactory’ to ‘Outstanding’ within a short period, as well as leading the school through a very successful amalgamation in January 2012. This successful leadership within her own school led to Emma’s appointment as a Specialist Leader of Education for the National College for School Leadership, with whom she worked on school improvement, building capacity and improving leadership in numerous schools across the borough.
Emma has been a JC LAB member since its establishment in 2016.
