Mrs Laura Radcliffe
Head of Year 9
Laura graduated from Lancaster University in 2006 and has been working in education since that time. Her career began in the Manchester, UK where she worked for 2 years in a comprehensive school, Parklands High School. Laura has been a teacher at Jumeirah College since 2008 and has been a Head of Year since 2009. After fulfilling the role of KS3 Coordinator and Second in Department in her first years of teaching, she realized that her passion was in pastoral leadership and therefore took on the role as Head of Year.
In terms of wider College impact, Laura has had experience as part of the Senior Leadership Team from 2014-16 where she took on the role as Associate SLT. Her responsibilities enabled her to work closely with Students and Heads of Year, overseeing International Trips, Emirati Student Progress, Introduction of BYOD and Student Achievement to name a few.
She strongly believes that student happiness is the fundamental key that enables them to grow. She also encourages the importance of a strong teacher-parent relationship, enabling students to be fully supported on their own individual path. Laura also teaches of ICT and Computer Science from Year 7 – Year 13 and loves to teach the subject due to its ever-changing and diverse breadth of study. In 2015, Laura’s GCSE classes gained all A*s and As, an achievement compared to previous years where one or two students gained Bs at the very least.
Laura is married and has a daughter attending Jumeirah Primary School.
